Ethan Allen by Hoppe's??? I need info!
« on: April 01, 2004, 06:30:11 PM »
This is a double-barreled black powder muzzle-loader pistol.  I won it at the '83 IHMSA Internationals.  It was a kit.  I built it and sat it on a shelf for display.  The whole thing is only 7 3/4" long.  I think it is .30 caliber.  Serial #S06049.  It has never been fired, but I would like to shoot it.  Unfortunately I have misplaced (lost?) the original manual and instructions.  I sent email to Hoppe's (now Uncle Mike's) and was told that when they took over Hoppes all the files were destroyed by disgruntled employees, so they could not help.  Does anyone have a clue about loading this pistol!

Triggerteaser,
Sounds like an el cheapo, Spanish made gun.  They're safe to fire, but with light charges of black powder only.  Try 10 - 15 gr of FFFG black (or Pyrodex P).  Possibly it's made for shooting 00 buckshot.  See if a patched 00 would fit well.

Go to Dixie Gun works website and look for the Classic Arms
Snake-eyes pistol.
Classic Arms Still produces them along with several others
such as the New Orleans Ace, Ethan allen Pepperbox etc..
They are a lot of fun to shoot, and yours is probably
a .32 or .36 caliber

Have one. Fun to shoot. Shoots shot ok, since it's smoothe bore. Takes a .350 ball, and about same volume of powder. Think I've got the papers yet, if you need more info.
