OD for the 500 SW barrel?
« on: January 31, 2012, 07:00:56 AM »
Anyone ever put a muzzle brake on one? If yes, what brand or type? Did you build your own brake? Would also like to know die size you used if it has already been done.

I am looking real hard at getting one. Local Gunshop has it for 270.00 NIB and it calls my name everytime I walk in the door!  :P

I am also considering putting a shotgun scope on it with some type of 200 yard drop reticle if I can find one.

Ok, after reading through some of the past posts I am not so fired up about it. Getting a better stock and adding an MRR appears to be a better solution. I will do some more digging on the site to see what has been said on that subject. Just looking for some first hand experience from people who have actually tried some of the products out there.

I am not doing this for the cool factor, but to tame the kick without blowing out eardrums while hunting with family and friends. Besides it does not sound like I will get much return on the expense of installing a MB since this is a relitively large round moving at a relivtely slow speed. From what I gather High velocity rounds "feel" a bigger recution in recoil. I don't consider muzzle rise and follow up shots in the equation since this is a single shot rifle.

Appreciate the reply.
