Ruger Revolvers

I have a few C&R revolvers......

I've not seen any Rugers in this section and figured I'd "break the ice".

I'm mostly a Ruger DA revolver guy, so will have to wait awhile for those to hit C&R status.  But my OM Bearcat is, like its owner, 'way past C&R!

Generally firearms that are 50 years old or older, or of particular historic interest, are recognized by BATF as eligible for direct purchase by C&R license holders.  Firearms in current production are usually not - despite age.
For example, the CZ82 pistol in 9x18 is less than 30yrs old but was the military sidearm of Czechoslovakia during the cold war period.
On 1 January 1993, Czechoslovakia ceased to exist - splitting into the Czech Republic and Slovakia.  Thus, the CZ82 is of historic interest to military collectors and was declared C&R eligible.  The handgun is still commercially produced as the CZ83 in .380 which is not C&R eligible.
It does sometimes get confusing.  As I understand the process, firearms like the CZ82 have to be brought to BATF's attention for review.  And then await their decision.

Some of the Sturm, Ruger & Co. firearms that have "C&R" status received that classification due to the efforts of Steve Vogel, Wm. B. Ruger's "Son-In-Law".  He petitioned the BATF (no BATFE in those days) to include several models of Rugers due to their "unique" status.  The first item that comes to mind is Ruger's FLOP..... the Hawkeye!

The "Factory Engraved" .22 Cal. Ruger Single-Sixes also "made the list".

The "Flatgate" Single-Sixes were also included on the C&R list long before they were "50" years old!

The Mahogany Cased "Long Frame" Super Blackhawks also "made the list".

There's more but I'll cease flooding the "bandwidth"......  ::)

She's not a C&R but for just $289 it came home with me.  Its a Ruger Vaquero in 45long colt with a 7 1/2'' barrel in polished stainless.  They don't offer this SA revolver with a 7 1/2'' barrel anymore.  She's used but in great condition for $289.  Next to it in the gun shop was a super blackhawk in 44mag with a 10 1/2'' barrel for $329.  I grabbed that too the sameday.  Midwayusa had the 10 1/2'' shoulder holster on clearance too. "cheap"
