Increasing Contender trigger weight
« on: February 16, 2012, 01:32:15 PM »
Looking for sugestions on INCREASING trigger pull on 1st Gen Contender.  I'm at about 2 lbs and whant to get up around 3.  I've got some spring on the way from Brownells to work with.  I know this is opposite of what most people want, but this is a hunting gun and will be used with cold fingers. I intend on playing with it a bit, just didn't know if anyone already dealt with this.  Thanks.

you are headed in the right direction with the spring(s).

There should be an trigger engagement adjustment screw just in front of and above the trigger that will "cure" that "problem".

Nope, the engagement screw isn't helping.  I get more engagement, but the weight isn't increasing any significant amount.

Sounds like you've got a gun that has received an extensive trigger job.  A little heavier spring may just give you what you're looking for.   If all else fails, returning the gun to TC would get it fixed for sure but you'd probably get more weight than you want.  I would think one could find someone who would be willing to swap out a few parts with you.  I know a lot of Contender owners would drool over a good two pound trigger 8) ....at least I know I would, but all of my triggers are already there ;D .  Good Luck

If spring has been cut off. Try stretching the spring. You can also get trigger return springs from T C.
