28 gauge

How common or uncommon is a 28gauge...I ran across one in pretty good shape at a gunshop yesterday.  Never seen one, just curious???

I got mine last year by ordering it from Gander.  Cost was $129.   It is new,but the finish was lacking on the wood and the metal.It was  only the second one i have seen.  The first was an order used again from Gander but it had a short barrel and youth stock ,but I did not take it.  I like mine and is a real pleasure to shoot, but ammo at Wally's house is about $11.00 box.  Its usually 7 1/2 shot. Lucked up last month and got 2 boxes on Gander clearance ammo table for total of $4.50 and 6.00.

I got one . They are now making slugs for the 28 if that indicates anything. Kurt

I've had one for few years now and love it. The last time i bought a box of shells from wally world it was $10. I use it for starling control around my old farm house. Fun quick wing shooting

I love the 28 gauge as a squirrel getter. Ammo is more expensive and shot selection smaller, but it's certainly available...I see it at Walmart and Academy all the time.

I have a 870 and a SxS in 28 ga and LOVE it! I do not own one and I would very much like a 28G handi. I would buy the first one I saw! (If realisticly priced)
 
Its a great gauge, Its a proven fact that more people have fired there first perfect scores with a 28Ga that any other gauge shotgun!!!

Probably about as rare as 16 gauge ammunition, but I have noticed in the last couple of years that I am seeing more and more ammunition available in the gauge which is great!  I consider this gauge to be prime for Dove, Quail, Rabbits and Squirrels for those who use shotguns on small game.  I am still holding out for a decent economically priced or a good deal on a used O/U in 28 gauge.  I didnt discover this wonderful gauge until I started shooting Skeet competitively in the mid 90's and kick my self for not getting a 28 gauge barrel for my SKB 685 as a matched barrel set to my 12 guage for just a few dollars more at the time.
