Contender not opening

Heya Folks
 
I have this carbine that always seemed a bit stiff on releasing the action to open (the release
is difficult to pull). I took it out of the safe and the release got stiff in a quick hurry.
Now, it will not open/unlock the catch for nothing.
Cant figure this out.
 
Any help would be much appreciated.

Loosen the stock screw a tad and see if that helps.

It did not work but I got it open later.

I was just thinking about this under the barrel are the tabs that lock the barrel into place one of my barrels (I'm messing with it right now) was tight to open I had to really jam on it to open when I first bought/installed it.
So I took my dremel and lightly ground down on the lip of the lock tabs until the barrel started to open without to much force it is still a bit tight but snaps open readily now.
Sorry I didn't mention this before Dwayner I had completely forgotten about it.

just had another thought = make sure the chamber is empty then cock the hammer take a small screw driver and make sure that the small screw under the firing pins is tight.
 
I had one of these back out once when it did it let the plate move around not letting the locking lugs pass past it.
