Linebaugh Seminar guns
« on: January 25, 2012, 04:11:03 PM »
I had originally planned to attend one of the Linebaugh seminars last year, but health problems prevented it. I'm trying to plan attendance for this years Cody seminars, but I'd like to get a little insight from guys who have attended past seminars. I know  Lloyd Smales been to at least one, and I'm sure others have been there too, any suggestions as to what to expect, what to bring, best places to stay, etc? I haven't had a vacation in about 15 years, and feel I owe myself an adventure.

It can be a busy place around cody that time of year so get your reservations early. We went twice and stayed in two different motels and to be honest i dont remember the names. Bring clothes for cold and warm. One year we were there it was hotter then hell and the other i dont think i went outside without at least a jean jacket on. As to ammo its up to you. Lots of guys spend more time wondering around and shoot the bs with everyone. Me im a shooter and went through upwards of a 1000 rounds while there if not more. One thing to make sure of is if its your first time there factor in an extra day to just wonder around in the museum. Its amazing all the stuff thats there and it takes hours to really see it all. By the way say hi to john and dustin and frank from mt baldy bullets for me for me. Anymore with my back problems its just not in the cards to make a trip that long. Sure wish i could make at least one more before i die though. Lots of good people there! By the way you might want to buy a pair of cowboy boots and a cowboy hat. I think i was the only guy there for two years wearing sneakers and a ball cap ;)

I hate to say it has been almost ten years since I was there, and I already paid for another one, but use the computer to do a deep search, including ma and pa motels.
Do not just use the major motel finders.
There used to be an independant motel web site that can same you money.
The first night I was there and luckily found a room. I had intended to camp but was tired.
I gave up the room the next day and after the seminar was undecided whether I wanted to pitch a tent, so I checked for another room.
I could find nothing even close to the price I had the night before and one motel clerk was amazed I found one that cheap.
So I pitched my tent and for ten bucks a night was the best decision I ever made. Something about sleeping in a tent that had all the odor of forty  years of use that just feels right.
Take clothes more than you think  you will need. Take  more money, not c-card than you think you will need and bring as many guns as you desire.
If you intend to shoot, bring more rounds than you think you will shoot.
If possible give yourself an extra free day, as  you might stick around longer than you thought.
