Range trip with new 30-30
« on: February 17, 2012, 08:27:46 AM »
It's a keeper.Got my new 30-30 barrel back last Tuesday and Brian did a great job no more FTF and a trigger job to boot, it seems to like factory win. 150 the best the top group was the first at 100 yards. the one below it after I adjusted the sights it had one shot I pulled, the sierra 150 did OK but at 100 yards. the best I could ring out was around 2" and hornady was around 3" but these were the first loads. The hornady I think I'll try first load tests with them, seeing how calling both hornady and sierra techs it seems that the hornady's will expand at the slower velocity better than sierra as per the techs.
Anybody shoot the win HP's for hunting, and if so how did they perform? I'm not a fan of hollow points out of a rifle for hunting.

I'm happy with it, but my ageing eyes needs a scope these days. Now the fun of working up a load starts.
