No hits for Prolix
« on: February 24, 2012, 03:21:18 PM »

I'm new to the world of Handi and this forum and have been studying the FAQ and 101's of Handi as I get my rifle set up. One reoccurring theme is the need for everything to be dry and oil free.  I searched GB's site for Prolix and didn't get any hits so I'm going to assume no one has tried it.  Several years ago I read about a product called Prolix on Chuck Hawk's site, and he started using it because some Glock guru highly recommended it.  I bought some after reading Chuck's recommendation and now I don't use many other products for gun maintenacne.  It is a cleaner, lubricant, and rust protector in one product, it is not petroleum based and it dries.  I know you read that last sentence and said to yourself "this guys nuts!".  Buy the 1 oz ($4.00) and give it a try.  The prices may look expense, but I find a little goes a long way.  It will solve latch or chamber residue problems.  And it makes cleaning at the range really easy, you only need to take one bottle with you.

Prolix is made in Utah, it is biodegradable, has a sweet mild smell (kind of like a citrus cleaner) that doesn't linger in the room after you use it.  Often I clean my guns at the kitchen counter so I can watch the big screen at the same time.

Prolix is wood friendly and Glock polymer friendly, but may damage other plastics so test before using.

Now the disclaimer.  I have no affiliation to Prolix in any way.  My reason for this post is simply I like to shoot and hunt, but I rank gun cleaning right next to toilet cleaning on the enjoyable activity scale.  Prolix has made an activity I didn't like doing to one I don't mind doing.  Also, it dries!

I tried Prolix & it is now all I use for cleaning & lubrication on my rifles.  I bought enough to submerge my Actions &  Bolts & Loading Dies & various other loading tools. Prolix cleaned them very well & when everything eventually air dried & was assembled the rifle actions & triggers were very slick. I am happy with it & will continue to use Prolix. I love the dry Lube, nothing is gummy anymore.  PROLIX WORKS.
