H&R 48 16ga.
« on: February 25, 2012, 03:29:49 AM »
Picked up a very nice 48 16 ga. full   ;D  but (always a but) there is a bulge  :( :'(  about 3-4 inch from the muzzle. It still throws a pretty nice pattern as I want to use it at the turkey shoots,I do not want to cut it off. Does any one know a way of fixing the bugle or someone who does this type of work.  Thanks Tom 8) ;D

I really don't think a bulge can be fixed other then chopping it off in front of it and re-choking or just cylinder bore.  It it can it must be very expensive.  Be cheaper to cut it and thread it for choke tubes.

OR, just leave it like it is and shoot it, you say it still throws a good pattern, so I say shoot it as is. Just say it has lived a hard life and has "character"....<><.... ;)

Your right.  As long as it doesn't look like it just swallowed an orange (and even if it did) if it throws a good patter and doesn't block your bead just hunt with it.

I agree I would leave it as is if it is shooting good enough. Cutting it and threads for choke tubes would be another option but might cost more than the barrel is worth?  Joe
