i am getting tired of seeing seals everywhere and anywhere.    everyone flapping about the seals is going to get a bunch of them killed here someday soon.    secrecy is their greatest weapon and the current fools running the show are ruining that.

We are planning to go see it.

As far as Seals and other millitary members getting to much attention. I do agree. On the otherside of that, this movie is suppose to be based on and using Seals as the actors.

I'm not going.

the joke in the special ops community these days is that the seals had to exchange  their weapons  for hair dryers.

My understanding is that this movie started out as a Navy recruitment movie.  That said at least it portrays a branch of the military in a good light, instead of "baby killers" or psycho's like most Hollywood movies nowadays.

My quandary, I personally, don't think I have enough Handi's but, I know I have more Handi's than I really need or should have.

I saw a deal on TV about it and it said there are no CGI computer animations and they even used live ammo..no blanks...they(Seals) didn't go thru approved preferred channels to do this according to the Pentagon-guy that was talking on there, but I don't think for a minute that the seals would even think about giving away any secrets or anything that would jeopardize their buddies. And it did start out as recruiting film...

my avatar pic is my 1960 Rambler I bought in 1972 for $175..6 banger 3-on-the-tree...drove it for 5 yrs  22mpg.. was "hot-rodding" (LOL) one night...tore out 1st/reverse gear. Drove it that way for 2 yrs(with no reverse and only 2nd and high)  Had to really plan ahead when parking.
sold it for $125

it is called "black ops" for a reason.     this attention to them is NOT good for our forces.

Then on the other hand if it makes bad guys paranoid that will mean they are less efficient.

Just like the Federal government is passing more and more silly laws and new procedures like silly airport screenings. How much are we spending these days because we are scared of the big bad wolf.

I think when they successfully carry out an operation such as those in Samalia and Ben Ladin; they get plenty of attention. A movie isn't going to call any more attention than they already have.

that is exactly my point.   aint no one outside of the black ops community and the chain of command needed to know anything about the details of any of that.   GOOD PEOPLE ARE GOING TO GET KILLED WHILE POLITICIANS ARE BUSY REAPING GLORY.

Any other administration besides bamster (and klintoon?) would have simply reported "U.S. special forces found and killed Osama BL .... " end of story!  Later some details might have surfaced but very few.

I hope no SEAL families or dependents are targeted because of the new fame, either.

clinton would have never ordered such a mission....he would have either notified the media so they could have got there ahead of time and set up filming, or he would have just shot a multi million dollar missle over the hill and called the problem solved.

that is exactly my concern, is that tactics, capability, and identities will be comprimised.  the shroud of secrecy existed for a reason.
