First post - Barrel Program Blues

Great site, found it through THR. Tons of good info!

Anyway, here's my conundrum. I just bought a SB2 in .22 hornet with a .223 accessory barrel, SN matched.  The info I had before the purchase, I think from an older paper form scan, was that all 1987 and later SB2s were eligible for the barrel accessory program. I bought this as I wanted to get it fitted for a .44 mag barrel.

This is a 1989 model. :(   Doh.

Anyway, I see that H&R will put a 44 or 357 barrel on an SB1, but won't on a pre-2000 SB2? Why is that? Has anyone attempted to order or successfully ordered a 44 or 357 for their pre-2000 SB2?

Seems silly that I can get a 36k psi 44 barrel for my mom's SB1 12 gauge but not for a gun that already handles a 55k psi .223.

Welcome!  H&R will fit 357 and 44 mag barrels to 1987 and later SB1 and SB2 frames, I just confirmed it with Brian, so you're good to go.  ;)
