Is it ok to use 100 gr. of Paradox in the T/C Renegade or 100 gr. of Triple7? I currently use triple 7 in my Encores.

You have never stated the caliber or what you intend to put in front of the charge.

I have been shooting Knight and Encore muzzleloader, I use the power belt bullets in them. I just picked up a 50 cal. T/C Renegade and want to see how well it shoots. I was going to try some 370 gr. maxi-balls and a few other bullets to see what works good. I will also try some powerbelts to see what they do, they are 295gr. What I want to know is what is the max powder charge for the T/C Renegade is? I did not get a book with the gun.

Power Belts would not group in my Renegade Hunter. Hornady sabot with the 240 XTP grouped great because the fit is tighter.

Redhawk1 I guess that's 100 grains Pyrodex?? I shoot 90gr under a 50 cal 385 Buffalo bullet into a 2"group at 75 yds with open sights. TC will gladly send you a free loading booklet. Mine says ok to the 100 gr of RS Pyrodex in the 50 cal Renegade. I've shot that much but didn't gain much increase in velocity. 90 gr. gives 1480 fps out of a dirty barrel. It takes 4 shots to dirty my barrel before the 90 grain load quits gaining velocity and levels off at 1480 fps.

You might want to back off on the Triple 7 charge of 100 gr and work up. I use 90 gr Triple 7 FFG with a 350 Maxi-Ball (old original TC Mould) in my TC Black Mountain Magnum .50 cal. Velocity is 1530 fps and 7 shots go into 2-2.5 MOA without cleaning between shots. This includes the first shot from a clean barrel. With100 gr the group opens to about 4-5 MOA. Alloy is 1-16 as a with a softer alloy or pure lead accuracy goes south between 1200 and 1400 fps. However my rifle has a faster 1-28" twist and with your Renegades slower twist you may fair better with softer alloys.

Still suggest with Triple 7 you start at 70 gr (volume) and work up in 10 gr increments shooting at least 3 shot groups until accuracy goes south, recoil becomes a "pain" or you reach the recommended equivelent max load as recommended by TC of 100 gr by volume for the 370 Maxi-Ball. A quick check of the info on Triple 7 shows it produces a higher velocity than BP or other substitues with an equal volume charge.

BTW; cleanup with Triple 7 is every bit as easy as the ads say.

Well, just got back from the range with the 50 cal. T/C Renegade. I shot 80 gr. of triple7 under a Hornady sabot with the 240 XTP. It shot well, I also shot a few with 90 gr. of triple7 and my point of impact went up a little as expected. I did not try any maxi-balls. I decided to use the triple7 because I use the triple7 pellets in my Encores and knight rifles. The granular triple7 cleans up as well as the pellets. Also thank for all the feedback.
