Scope base
« on: July 18, 2006, 01:57:30 PM »
I put together a 6.5 TCU carbine for my son with a Leupold scope, base & rings. I have the scope seated as far forward as it will go but it is still too far back to provide comfortable eye relief. Any suggestions for a better mounting system? Does anyone make a picatinny rail for the contender?

Nearly all myT/Cs wear Weaver bases and Burris rings.  I've never had a scope eye relief problem.

You may want to have an additional set of base mounting holes drilled and tapped to allow about an inch more forward mounting. Other option would be 'offset' mounts/rings.
This is a factory barrel/stock using the same mount you have and standard medium rings. Albeit a lighter caliber it seems to provide decent eye clearance and still let you position the stock correctly.
