.356/.358 win.
« on: March 08, 2012, 02:20:55 AM »
The weather was great yesterday so I decided to play Hooke from  the Back Hoe for a few hr. I had loaded some .356  cases with 158 gr. pistol  bullets.  Sighted it in at 25 yd. then moved to 100 yd. I fired 5 shots 1.5" to 2 " high over the bull in a nice group. I let it cool and did this 3 times. The load was a nice mild round about 2300 fps. When I got done I had a 2" hole in the paper for 15 shots. I also have some 358 rounds  that were loaded with 180 grain bullets and at the low end of the book load. They shot 6" higher but still a small group. I wish some one made a 150 gr rifle bullet in 35 cal. I think it is a keeper in either caliber.

I haven't tried many bullets in mine but thats a good fun plinking load you found!

BTW, Remington used to make a 150G spitzer for the 35 rem....

Sierra also made a 150G SP pistol bullet.... Maybe a dilligent search would reveal some...
