Have 10" barrels, couple of wood forends, pachmayr forend.  Want to install a sling stud, for attaching a bipod. If I go with a screw type, I am afraid of the stress on the wood(not a lot of wood on these short forends).  I can only find factory forends for the longer barrels with the stud already installed.
Give me some ideas!

You might be able to use a barrel band type sling stud, just a thought. or you could get you a Packmyer set with the slimg stud you can use the forend on 10 0r 14 inch barrels but it would almost cover the full length on a 10 inch barrel
You mentioned that you have a pacmyer forend you can get a threaded sling stud and replace the screw on the forend with that and a flat washer I have also seen some with a short black bushing and I would think if you are going with Harris that they would supply the hardwear to mount on the packmyer forend and you could also use the threaded sling stud on the wood forend with a washer.

Use a machine screw sling stud, most are 10/24 or 10/32 thread. Go to the hardware store, buy a T-nut threaded for the stud. Recess the barrel channel, insert the stud and screw her down snug. Won't stress the wood or pull through like the wood screw type studs.
