It seems more care is needed in getting the location correct but more important getting a no knock warrant or warrant in the first place. The guy at Waco jogged every day but they served him a warrant at home why ?
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

If you mean Koresh, it was because.. the Feds wanted to get some neato video of a dynamic entry. That, and they've got the tools... when you've got a hammer, you look for a nail.

My view is the SWAT/'dynamic entry' bit is waaaay overused, should only be used in direst circumstances (not serving warrants) and is a prime reason why many hold LE in contempt these days.

Can we put some logic into this situation?
A policeoffer can be held accountable for killing an innocent person because he made a legal entry into the wrong home. By legal entry i am using the situation of wrong home for the offense he was charged with entering.
I was able to identify the person banging on my door that morning--he had a gang of backup--because I could see outside.
If I had awaken to the door being crashed in and unidentified persons in my home--irregardless of yelling police--I probably would have come out shooting.
I was in a deep sleep when the commotion started and was Till groggy when I had my shotgun in hand. Thankfully they were not coming thru the door and I had a chance to get out of my stupor, somewhat, and identify the situation.
This little suburb has streets that crisscross between towns and they had a good address but the wrong town--it is confusing. Ave "A" in one town with Ave "A" in another.

I'm so relieved to hear all of this. So, you call for help and the cavalry shows up at the wrong house. Great !!

Hmmmmm? ???

I suspect that this issue is being blown way out of purportion. I imagine that the actual percentage of wrongful dynamic entries is really pretty small. Given the millions of warrant and warrantless entries made every year the actual NUMBER may seem high, but I'd imagine that the numbers are less than 100 in 1 million times. And of those I think that most are resolved without injury or death, as indicated by some of our posters.

However the liberal mindset likes to make a huge issue out things that only affect a tiny percentage of the populace....it's one of their favorite tools!

Regardless, I would suggest that if law enforcement is so concerned about this they should concentrate on two things to improve their situation;

#1. Work VERY hard on better  suspect/address identification!

#2. Practice a lot more on dynamic entry and fast target acquisition!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, I usually back LEOs, but not in this case.  If the 'resisting' is being done by a drug dealer or carjacker for instance, who was caught in trhe act..then a further charge is warranted.
However, we must weigh just how important it is to catch a drug dealer in the middle of the night.  Can't we get enough proof so we can arrest him in a normal manner..Is it worth endangering and possibly killing a totally innocent person and or their family....such as nearly happened to William and did happen in Powderman's area.  Waco had a way of waking the sleeping ones to outrageous abuse.  Ruby Ridge was another case where a govt 'sharpshooter' who boasted about "hitting a quarter at 200 yards" .. just happened to shoot and kill a woman holding her child.
I don't think any middle-of-the-night raid is worth it unless it is a case of immediate defense of others..such as a mad sniper taking shots at innocents is worth the possible killing of innocent families.
The castle doctrine should be enacted nationwide, with unannounced, raiding police not excluded.

That being said, since most raids seeem to be on dope peddlars..we have our neighborhood dope addicts to thank for the raids which have killed innocents.

The LEO's need to get away from the swat in some instances, many in fact.  Play the wait game and less lives endangered.  I understand that sometimes there is no choice, but it's like a high speed chase.  If the speeder is not a mass murderer, is it worth the risk to the innocents, or to the LEO?

I appreciate the cops in my area, and know many of them personally, but the younger ones definately have a para military attitude that worries me some.
