6.5 CARCANO AMMO
« on: March 13, 2007, 03:11:37 PM »
I have a box of Carcano ammo on stripper clips. The box has a canvas strip doubled stapeded to the top flap.It is in fair to good condition. It holds three brass strippers with six rounds. The box says :
                                   METALLURGICA ITALINA _ FIRENZE
                                     STAB.o DI CAMPO  TIZZORO
                                               N o= X3
                                  CARTUCCE  A PALLOTTOLA  DA 6,5
                                     PER  FUCILI E  MOSCHETTI
                                    PARITA N.o
                                   CARICATA   CON  SOLNITE
On the brass strippers it says : SMI  953
The "o" after STAB ,N ,and PARITA are the symbol for degrees.I couldn't find that on my keyboard.
Is the anything special to collectors or just shooter ammo ? Any info and a value would be helpful. Thanks,Ken W.

It is "Solenite" , not "Solnite" ..this is the name of the powder.

It is also "PARTITA" , not "PARITA". This is the lot

STABo stands for "Stabilimento" , ammo plant in italian. SMI had an ammo plant in Campo Tizzoro in the past
