US Senate for the 11th time said no to drilling in ANWR
« on: March 15, 2012, 09:19:33 AM »
One of the things made plain when ANWR was set aside, was that it was being held for oil drilling in the future.  Seems most of the politicians in the lower 48 can not believe that.  Seems everyone wants to save the Caribou, that never reach the area of proposed drilling.  Plus drilling can only be done during the winter, when Caribou are not in any part of ANWR.

Now for the 11th time the Senate has voted down drilling in ANWR.  Our Sole Congressman Rep Don Young has pushed drilling through the House 12 times.  The only time the Senate was able to pass a dril in ANWR bill, Then President Bill Clinton Vetoed it.  Congress and the president are doing everything they can do to keep the price of gasoline high.

If ANWR was a football field, the drilling area would be a postage stamp touching one of the goal lines, near a side line.  Confirmed reserves in ANWR is reported to have enough oil to supply the US at current rates for over 50 years.  Some estimates go as high as 100 years.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Sourdough,
As I sat here typing this reply, there is a box setting about 4.5 feet from me that contains seismic data that was acquired over ANWR before the Valdez accident. Certain oil companies that have seen this data confirm what your above post alludes too!
Potential is there to equal or exceed the North Slope production. I have been not to far from ANWR when I was hunting caribou near Prudhoe Bay. As you well know this is a very remote desolate part of the earth and primitive!
With the all knowing U. S. gov`t. restricting exploration in this region for years, they certainly lost a big chance to alleviate the problem we are having now with our gasoline prices. And now it looks like they are just compounding the problem!!
