Fawcett Preston's Last Blakely 1865

These six pictures are from an English TV show and feature a 2.5 inch Blakely gun on a truck carriage, probably intended for a yacht. The barrel in 33 inches long, rifled with 6 grooves and clearly marked Fawcett, Preston & Company, Liverpool, 1865.
It may be one numbered 260 or 261. It is certainly one of the last Blakely guns made by Fawcetts, and the only one with such a long breech hoop and such a fancy carriage.

RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.
