Hey ButlerFord, I'm not a Hornady hold-out, I went against the grain and said Nosler, and guess what, the answer to your question is still Nosler, in the Partition form. :)  I can't say I've ever used Hornady simply for the fact that dad had a bad experience with three Hornady interlocks in a row on the same mule deer, they all blew up on the shoulder blade or the heavy shoulder bone, 165gr out of a .30-06, 150 yds standing broadside, the deer had to be put down with the .243 that mom was carrying loaded with...you guessed it, Nosler Partitions.  He switched to Nosler and never looked back.  He got me started in reloading and I retained his bias.

WHY do people shoot deer in the shoulder, when a good bullet in the
heart/lung area will have them down in a few yards, and sometimes
right on the spot??? There may not be too much meat on the shoulder,
but it makes for a good roast or ground meat in the event it is not
totally blood shot.

I've used Hornady's (and their techs certainly give me any info that I've
ever needed), Sierra's, Bergers, and a few custom bullets. Hornady's have
always done a great job for me, from everything from .204's to .45 XTP's.
Hope to try the .50 SST in my smoke pole soon. This is not to say that
I'm against anything else, but Hornady bullets have come through for me
for p-dogs to mulies & whitetail without a hitch.

As for their being only one bullet manufacturer from which to buy bullets...
nah, no thanks. Think how much any of them would raise their prices
without competition!!!!

Sort of be hijacking the thread Danno.........start it on another post and I will gladly discuss shoulder shots vs H&L shots and the whys and why nots with ya.

Butler.......with the bonded core bullets making there slow arrival on the scene soon will not be that need for paritions as once was. Working with the inner bonds and they seem to be suited for about any game your caliber is capable of. As they start to cover all calibers and weights it will cause some defection from the premium bullet leagues as in my case cause accuracy just wasn't there with the paritions.

Well, with all the good press you guys are giving Horny's I just ordered a box of Interbonds 150 for my .308 .  Maybe I'll be shooting them come next weekend. :-)  :gun4:

ButlerFord,
If,on that trip to Alaska,I was allowed to only hunt Whitetails,I'd be ill advised to go against all of my experience. I would certainly opt for a Hornaday Interlock bullet.
If I were allowed to shoot bigger game(elk,moose,etc),I would then equip myself with premium bullets.

Sierra GameKings for my rifles, my own cast for my handguns. I have used Speer bullets before. At the range I typically shoot deer, a patched marble would probably do just as good.

Well, I'm in the never tried a Hornady rifle bullet boat also. I have taken  many deer and groundhogs with Nosler BT's. I have shot Sierra but I have to stay with Nosler.
 I must confess I do have some 22 cal. 35 gr v-max in the cabinet to play with as well as some 50 cal. SST smokepole bullets to try. By reading this thread, I might try some Hrnady in the other calibers.
