Zastava MP22
« on: March 08, 2012, 05:46:08 AM »
Not sure where to put this since I don't see a rimfire section but here goes.
I'm looking for a new .22 WMR and want something aesthetically nicer than a Marlin or Savage. My CZ 452 is a very accurate .22 LR but is a bit longer than I like and a bit more money than I have. So I'm looking at the Zastava MP22 with a 22" barrel and a more compact action than the CZ which has a couple of inches of "wasted space" between the triggerguard and magazine box. I have an old Zastava side by side 16 gauge and it is a very well built gun but I have no experience with the Zastava .22's. Has anyone here tried them?

Well joe, I can't help with the gun your asking about, but if it were me I believe I'd save for the CZ. Can't see how anything less expensive would meet their accuracy. JMO

The rim fire rifle forum is about 6 forum lines below this one.  :o just scroll down.

Now I see how I missed it, it isn't on the big index which comes up when you first log on to GBO. It only appears after you go to some other forum and scroll from there. It really IS only in the fine print. ;D

CJ,
I have a REM 799 in 22 H made by Zastava, metal polish and blueing is great, metal to wood is machine done and a bit sloppy.
I like you avatar, made me think, if you were walking your pistol cairiring dog, and "you " did not have a carry permit, what the law would be on that?

I don't know what the law would be on that but it's my experience that if a cop wants to charge you he can always make something up. :D  But Strider has been packin' my .44 bulldog ever since he got bitten by a rattlesnake and I don't blame him, he was a hurtin' puppy for a while.

Since you're here, I had one of the 99 models in 22 LR that is a real tack driver.  Gave it to number 2 son for Christmas.  Have one of the Remingtons with the laminated stock that they brought in and put their name on it.  Had it 3 years and haven't shot it yet, saving it for another ne of the kids.  Take a look at the CZ's as well, I have a 513 and a 452 Sil. and both are one hole shooters.  The 22 mag. version doesn't appear to be much bigger.  DP

Thanks for the reply, I've pretty much decided to go for it, just have to see my FFL and see if he'll order one for me.
