« on: January 31, 2004, 10:00:28 AM »
Will a stock from the 870 fit the 7600? I want to save the original on the chance the gun might be sold some day. In the next century! Would like to use a synthetic. Thanks otidnaB  :?:

The 7600 recievers are made from a 870 28ga/410 reciever blank. I'd get a stock for a 7600 and be done with it.

Need a short stock

Neither Brownell's or Midway show a youth stock or an adult one for that matter. I have to go to an 870 stock to find a listing.  Bandito

Midway has them. Product # 206986 for $152. You have to buy the butt stock and forearm. If you want to shorten the butt stock and want synthetic the Bell & Carlson may be the best bet as synthetic stocks are hard to come by. Ordering a 870 28ga/410 butt stock may fit but the stock configuration would be wrong.

Youth stock
« Reply #4 on: February 01, 2004, 03:40:12 AM »
I found the 870 youth stock in the Hogue overmold style. I am going to try the 870 in 12 ga because some quick measurements made it appear close enough. I can do some fitting or send it back and try a youth model for the 20 ga. I WON"T pay $100 or more unless I go to someone like boyd's and get one to my spec.s. Too many possibilities for $50 or under to pay a big bill. Any more ideas? I know someone out there has fought the short arm syndrome, or made one for the Lady of the House. How short of a LOP do you need. I had my Boyd's laminated stock cut to 13" on my M70 Win. from 13 3/4" and a new recoil pad installed. Before I had it cut I asked the 'smith if it could be made longer later when my son gets it (a long ways down the road hopefully). He told me it's simple, just put in a 1/2" black spacer and most people won't even notice.

Actual LOP
« Reply #6 on: February 01, 2004, 07:37:13 AM »
My LOP is 12 1/2". I use up to 12 3/4". If you are using body armor ( Law Enforcement) , or heavy winter clothing then the shortest usable lop will make it possible to use the arm in summer and winter. My opinion. I have a friend who is an armorer for the KC PD. He uses this formula. He says you can use a short lop within reason better than an excessive one. I agree with him concerning rifles and shotguns. Most stocks are made too long for me. To shoot fast I have to pull the buttstock out away from the shoulder and then in the pocket. Not conducive to your top marksmanship. Thus I like to get all guns adjusted to me unless they are pure trading material. Long explanation but there it is.  Good shootin   Bandito

My suggestion is cut the stock and let the "next guy" worry about it. You could have the stock cut to 12 3/8" and use a butt plate instead of a recoil pad. If you get rid of the rifle a 1" recoil pad would take the LOP back to factory length. In fact you could use the factory butt plate and grind it to fit and save a few $. Dave

Thanks for the ideas guys. I think I will just hack it off and put a pad from SVL on it.  Bandito

Bandito,
You can buy just the buttstock directly from Remington. You may want to contact their Customer Service department and inquire about your needs.
