Anyone ever build an AK-47?
« on: May 30, 2012, 02:37:04 AM »
Hi guys,
I have built a handful of Ar-15's and also have put together an AR-10.  I am now wondering about putting together an AK-47.  Have any of you ever built one?  If so who do you recommend getting parts from? How much is it going to cost me?  Any info you can provide would be helpful.  In the research process now.  Not sure if I am going to do it yet but am definitely interested.

I built 1 when parts kits were $100 , spent another $100 on U.S. made parts to make it 922r compliant. I used a Tapco flat and made my own bending jig , you'll need a 10-12 ton press or make your own barrel press tool, and a rivet tool ( unless you use screws) . Today I would probably just buy a complete AK unless you get a great deal on a kit , current kits are around $300 , I still see new wasr's around $450. Learned alot though
