Huge UFC rematch.
« on: March 27, 2012, 05:52:16 AM »
Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen rematch is on for June in Brazil    By Maggie Hendricks | Cagewriter – 20 hours ago      Silva and Sonnen will fight again in June (Getty)After months of rumors, the UFC finally confirmed that they will head back to Brazil in June. At Joao Havelange Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Silva will rematch with Chael Sonnen for the UFC middleweight belt. After a season of coaching of the first Brazilian "The Ultimate Fighter," Wanderlei Silva and Vitor Belfort will fight. To the press release:

"This will be the biggest sporting event of the year," said UFC president Dana White.  "Bigger than the NFL, the NBA, you name it - UFC 147 will be the biggest.  The whole world wants to see this fight between Silva and Sonnen.  We are broadcast in over 150 countries in 22 languages in half a billion homes.  Wherever those fans are, they are going to be watching this fight."
Don't anybody tell White, but this is an Olympic year. One fight card in Brazil will not surpass even the opening ceremony for the Summer Olympics, but it's a nice goal. Joao Havelange holds 46,931 for a soccer match, but presumably, floor seats will help the UFC break their record of 55,000, set at UFC 129 in Toronto.
Regardless of how many people tune in or turn out for the fights, this rematch will be fun. The last time the two fought, Sonnen beat up Silva for four and a half rounds. Three minutes into the final round, Silva used a triangle armbar to submit Sonnen. Since then, animosity between the two has reached epic levels. Sonnen still refuses to admit that he lost to Silva.

I've watched a few UFC fights.  I wouldn't go up against one of them without a shotgun.

Sonnen won't make the same mistake twice... he'll be coming back home with some gold around his waist. ;)

When you see the extra price cable usually charges to watch a match you wouldn't be watching it anyway. It is crazy IMHO to be expected to pay up to $50 extra bucks to watch it on TV. Should have a good live seat for that money.

I watch most of the UFC championship fights the next day on the PC.
Or follow it play by play on Sherdog.com during the fight.
Sonnen had him beat for four and a half rounds, then got to overconfident, and lost by submission.
His fighting style can beat Silva, and if he stays on top of him, he will win. They would both lose to Jon Jones imo!

I think Rashad Evans is gonna whoop Jones for the light heavyweight title.

Guzzi, don't think $50 will get you in the first 10 rows. Ever check out ticket price's for a sporting event? Seats in the outfield for a MLB game are $25 and up. For an event this size, I would bet that $50 might get you a seat in the top tier. Once a year our family might spring for a pay for view. I'd rather sit in my own living room eating popcorn that costs less than a dollar a bowl, and have a beer that doesn't cost $5. Parking your car doesn't cost $5-$10, and gas/tolls/air fare?? I know how much fun they are to go to, but with price's and the hastle's, I'd just as soon sit at home anymore. gypsyman

I don't think Evans can go one round with him.Too much power and size for Evans. It should be a good one while it lasts though!

that is the great thing about the ufc...you just never know.  and if you are "unbeatable", that never lasts.
$50 aint bad, especially if you have some friends that are fans, and you have a get together at one person's home and everyone throws in a few bucks.  that is the way we used to do it.
for those that do not want to spend $50 but still want to watch the fights, most buffalo wild wings resturants have the fights on as a main event and dont charge a thing to let you in.   go out and have a nice dinner or appetizers and enjoy the fights.  when i first went, i was concerned about the atmosphere of the place during fights, but in all the buffalo wild wings i have been to during fight nights, never once have i seen anything but friendly people.  it is a good time and a family safe enviroment.  it is more focused on eating than it is on drinking, which i like.    i highly suggest it for those interested.

Each to their own. There are many things I would spend $50 on before I would for this.

It's definitely gonna be a great fight. I have my favorites but have to agree with something St. Piere said. "Any fighter, on any given day, stands the chance of winning. " As to Evan's, he's too much the "Showboat" for my liking. Anything could happen but my money is on Jones.
