2X red dot sight question

All descriptions for 2X red dot sights (Truglo) say they have a 2.5 MOA dot.  My question, to anyone who has one, is if it is magnified into a 5 MOA dot when you look through the 2X sight or does it still only cover 2.5 MOA on the target?  Thinking about getting one, but don't want to go bigger than a 3 MOA dot for 100 yard work.

No, it would cover 5 at 200. 2.5 at 100. A doubler in front of a 1x would double the size of a reticle though.
