336 elevator missing
« on: March 18, 2012, 05:18:01 PM »

Hi Guys,

Looking for an elevator for a F series 1949 built 336 marlin 30 30.   If anyone has a picture of one for this particular model that would be great so I know what I'm looking for.

Thank you for the help!

Nobade,

Is a carrier the same as the elevator?

Thanks,

Yep.  Take a look at the schematic to make sure of what you need though. Might have other parts missing as well.

The only part of a gun I have ever referred to as an "elevator" is the samll piece that goes in/unsder a rear sight to adjust the elevation of the sights. The part referred to as a "carrier" is that part of the action which recieves the round from the magazine and "elevates" it into position to be pushed into the chamber by the bolt. Which part are you looking for, the elevator for the sights or the carrier to move the round from the magazine tube to be pushed into the chamber?....<><....:)

MSP Ret.

The part I was referring to is the small blade with the notches that raises and lowers the rear sight.  Sorry for the confusion.  I was told this was called an elevator.  Some people take the rear sight off a Marlin and replace it with a peep sight.

Thank you,

If the intent posting it here was to find a source to purchase the part commercially it is OK.  If you posted it as a want to buy it is not.  Please use the classifieds here on GBO (free) for that sort of thing.  Posting it here is against the rules of GBO and will not be tolerated.

Aha! Thank you for sorting that out. Since I hear many people incorrectly referring to a carrier as an elevator, so I sent the link to one. For a rear sight elevator, just check your local gun shop or Brownells. Sorry for the mislead.

Thank you Nobade!  I picked up a rear sight elevator from Midway and will have to make a slight modification as the elevator is to thick to fit between the slot of the sight.  It must be because of the age of this particular rifle.

Appreciate the help.
