The cops just wanted to keep the 12k for their yearly bash.
How else would they be able to cover the costs for their booze.

Asset forfeiture has grossed the state of Florida local law enforcement agencies 35,000,000 dollars in just a 1 year study.
The Laws have been on the Books for a number years.  Though the purpose is to take the profits of crime away from the criminals These Laws are abused and invite corruption by local law enforcement Agencies and innocent folks get hurt in their implementation if not done with proper oversight.

Yes, she got it back---after having to hire an attorney. I wonder how much he got or if he did it pro bono.
