I tell ya, this is not a group for sane people.   :-\  Heck, I only come here to see what's new in the Handi world of "what if" and "I wonder if I could."   ::)
 
Take the big 50 craze for example.
 
First off, I am NOT part of that group!  I know, I know... I bought a set of 50-140 dies.  But that just means I saw an opportunity for a profit.   8)  You see, my egging on susceptible minds has a motive!   ;)
 
Look around!  LongTom has been talking about a 50-140 forever!  BikerBeans didn't even let the dust settle on his 4444 Loudenboomerfiresnorter and he is reaming away on one or more, I can't keep track, 50 calibers with varying suffixes!   ::)
 
And Tim!   :o  As usual he's way out there in the front of the pack with his 499HE, a stream of drool dribbling down his beard in anticipation of a day at the range!   ::)
 
I know there are more of that ilk out there!  Just look at all the 500 fanatics!   :o  I tell ya, this place is rampent with Cartridge envy!  Apparently size does matter and these folk are really into compensating!   ::)  No tellin what will be next!

Handi 50BMG?  Lots of powder capacity.  I could out magnum all you big bore boys.  'Course I couldn't shoot it, and the chamber would be about as thin as a shoebox, ....but other than that! ::)

I like the larger caliber bullets cause I can actually see them when I am reloading. :P   
 
I think Tyler is in the woods turkey hunting with his new .950 JDJ. :o
 
Build your 50-140 Richard, local candy store has a couple of boxes of 700 grain, 0.512" LRN boolits.  They also have GOEX if you happen to smoke. ;D

I found some more 700gr Ranger Rick's yesterday, ran a QL prediction for the 499HE, should be able to push them ~1800fps @ 40kpsi, that's about 400fps faster than in the 500S&W at 25kpsi less pressure!!  ;D

About 80lbs recoil in a 10lb gun, only 23lb in the Leadsled tho, felt recoil will be about the same as a 300gr 45-70 factory round in a 8lb Handi, so no marks on my end.  ;)

A 50 cal lead bullet and BH209 is a lot more fun to shoot when you can load if from the breech end of the gun. 8)   Like Quick says "don't ask me how I know that"! ;D

Nope, I'd return home and get it, but it's not likely that I'd forget it since I have all of my shootin stuff except the guns in the same spot ready to go, forgetting guns is another matter entirely tho! :-[ ::) ??? ;D

Funny you should mention that Ben!  I was thinkin that it shouldn't cost any more to rebore and ream to the 600 NE then the 50-140...  :-\   I'm just sayin...  :P

Clearwater does 600NE rebores!!  ;D Full pressure loads would be a bit much I think with over 12k lbs breech thrust, but lighter loads would work, AG lists 900gr @ 26.1kpsi for 1943fps at just over 10k. It has a .700" case head, but operates at relatively low pressure.

I see where Clearwater can rebore to 700 Nitro Express. Bet that would really get someones attention! A 20 ga USH would have a .615 bore the 700 Nitro a .688/.700 bore. Do not know if the rear of the barrel on a handi is large enough to cut for the chamber though.
