Yep the 450 went Bye Bye. They had a few things against them. For one the 450 Case is made just for the 450 so there are no other cases that can be formed into a 450. Plus if you have a Marlin 45-70 it can be loaded to 450 Specs and if you wish to spend the money there are companies that make 45-70 ammo to the same or above what the 450 was.

The advantage of the 450 is it fed a bit slicker due to the case design.

But I really like my Marlin 1895GS in 45-70 :) I did not see a need to change.
I always expected that marlin would bring out a 348 necked version of the 450 Marlin and a round nosed 308 version or a 375 version and expand the guide gun line to include longer range versions.
I have been thinking a hot version of the 348 Win would have sold in a guide gun.  The longer bullet having better longer range ballistics.

"No More 450" - Marlin stopped making them but Browning still carries seven models. OBTW, there is no shortage of Marlins or Winchesters available to the buyer and brass is readily available as well. I reload for mine however there is no problem buying factory ammo either.

It is sad that Marlin stopped production before they moved the manufacturing to NY however it was probably the best since they are having so many production problems with their levers.

Here's a pic of my Guide Guns, top two are ported 1895M 450's:

They quit making the .450s because they didn't sell.  They stopped making ported guns for the same reason.  A used ported Marlin is a very tough sell because they are so loud.  In a few years the 450 brass will be gone so stock up.  200 years from now they'll still be making .45-70 brass.

I think that using stone tools again has a better chance.

Styer makes a 450m in a bolt gun for dangerous game. I shot a black bear with my H&R ultra hunter 450m with a 350gr bullet at close range and it blew a hole out the other side about the size of a softball and I bought just one box of bullets when I bought the gun and must have reloaded the brass at least twenty times or more, the brass holds up well.

Wow, this post is still alive.

I'm willing to admit that the Marlin in .450 fit the needs of about 1 in a million people.  And since there are about 300 million people in the U.S., Marlin probably sold about 300 of them.

Off it goes to the trash bucket of obsolete"new" rounds.  It can keep the .307 Winchester and .356 Winchester company.  Of course, it mayget a bit crowded in there with the WSMs,  RUMs and SAUMs.

They should have given out a coupon for a free carnival sucker with every rifle.

The 270WSM and the 300WSM are very much alive and well, The RSUM went by the wayside because it was a WSM copy and didn't perform as well. I see no problem getting 450M brass or ammo.

I'd like to see them all gone and still hope to.

I have to agree here, that at least the .300WSM and .270 WSM made some sort of sense.  I think they will be around for awhile.

How bout that 7mm Shooting Times Western?  (Cough!)  Yea, . . .  we really needed that.
