They wouldn't allow him to fly a flag.  Wonder how this will fly?

If you are going to live in an area governed by a homeowners association you better fully understand what that may mean BEFORE buying a home there or go elsewhere. If that was the rules than the problem is his.

I agree with guzzijohn. Home owners associations are just a mechanism for giving the home owner expensive surprises and restrictions on what they can do with their property. I have no idea of why anyone would agree to the terms they have. There are enough surprises with conventional housing. This guy in particular now has a house that is unsalable, and will be difficult and expensive to re-paint because of the dark colors used. I hope he really likes it. I wouldn't want him for a neighbor because he obviously doesn't care about local property values.

Don't most states have laws that exempt American flags from any foolish homeowner association rules?

I don't feel bad for anyone who willingly buys a house in a homeowners association then complains about their rules. I just bought a house a couple months ago. I told my real estate agent up front that I wasn't going to buy any house that was in a homeowners association.

You guys are taking this wayyy to seriously.  I intended it to be funny.  I don't know where the house is or who the guy is...I got this in an email.

Profundity to illustrate a point....it's a shame when you can't fly our national flag ANYWHERE you want!

Mine flys proudly on the front of my house with a light on it 24/7.  It only comes down when it's tattered and needs replacing....for the last 20 or more years.

I personally would not move in a house with a bunch of stipulations attached either.  There are already enough zoning laws, etc. for me without adding more.
