Need a scope on my shot gun

  I am taking one of my Boy Scouts turkey hunting next week. He is going blind and needs a scope to shoot accurately. With a rifle, he holds about an inch at 50 yards. Anyway, I have an old 4 power scope from a rifle laying around. If I just drill and tap my old shotgun and put a scope rail on it will the old rifle scope hold up?

Maybe, maybe not. I had a rifle scope on my shotgun. It worked but the parralex was wrong for  shotgun distances. I could never get the scope clear. It was kinda fuzzy when sighting on anything closer than 50yds.
What kinda shotgun are ya putting the scope on anyhow? There are add on mounts by Bsqaure that keep you from having to do  the drilling and tapping. Some actions don't take too well to being drilled into.

I would go with either a designated shot gun scope (For paralax rweasons mentioned above) or a red dot.

I have an old Ted Williams version of a Winchester 1400 12 gauge semi. It has a ventalated rib and a factory poly choke.
