Moms cancer is back.

Got back today, not much good to report. She's very weak, had to have fluids again last Mon, not real steady on her feet. The dr says the cancer on her spine is gone but the cancer in the lymph glands is moving rapidly, I might post more later. Prayers appreciated. POWDERMAN.

Thanks for the update powderman. Prayers still being sent. I lost  a brother to cancer 3 years ago, But my older sister is a breast cancer survivor so there is always hope my friend. May God comfort you and your family in these difficult times

Next trip Patty will stay several weeks to help out. 2 sisters and a neice have been handling things but one sis will be operated on next week and be out of commission for some time, the neice will be having surgery herself so we will be needed up there. One old hunting buddy up there came home to die, I'll never see him again but we had a good visit. Another hunting buddy next dr to Mom can barely walk anymore and his wife is taking chemo. A lot of folks dear to me in bad shape up there and of course Jadyn too. I can only get a house sitter for a week at a time so I'll have to make several trips. Moms in good spirits and I seriously doubt she will try any more chemo. It's hard to listen to her talk about her funeral. Gas is eating us up. We spent about $90 round trip on just gas. 2 of those in bad shape are just like another set of parents for me and my siblings. Their daughter jumped right in and took charge, something we all thought she would never do, I told her I was really proud of her. POWDERMAN.

Mom starts chemo in the morning, it will take 6 hrs. The dr said that IF she can tolerate the chemo she has a 5050 chance of living another 1 - 2 years, without treatment 2 months. She went to Church Sun and played piano but it totally wore her out. I'm praying that she can tolerate it this time. POWDERMAN.

Just got off the phone with Sandy. Yesterday was pre treatment, today Mom will start chemo and get another ekg?? I think thats what it's called, the dr wants another look at the cancer. Mom is doing this because my youngest sis pressured her into it, she really doesn't want to go through the hair loss and sickness again. I don't want to lose her but don't want to see her suffer either. My other sis made it through surgery fine but is in a lot of pain, no updates on her today.  POWDERMAN.

Mom said today that the tests weren't good but not terrible either, The cancer on her spine is gone and the chemo did slow the rest up a bit, she'll get another treatment next Wed. She had to get more fluids today, she just doesn't take in enough and she has no appetite. She hasn't even drank all of the qt of gatorade we bought her.
Pattys Mom has been in the hospitol since last Sat. They have been trying to reduce her fluids, now they say she has a major heart blockage, she has to make a decision by noon tomorrow whether to allow open heart. They gave her an electrocardiogram and came to these conclusions, they did not go up the artery from the groin to see if they could clear it or put in a stint, dr says it must be open heart. I can't understand why they don't try clearing the blockage or a stint. I don't believe she is strong enough to survive open heart,  she would be 90 in Sept. They said without it she might have 1 - 1 1/2 years left.
Patty has blood tests Fri and her heart dr next week. Me?? I'm still here. No real news on Jadyn lately. POWDERMAN.

Went to Lou yesterday to visit Pattys Mom. She cried as she told the family there that she decided NOT to try the open heart and let nature take it's course. Theres no way she could survive open heart surgery. Dr says the blockage is on the opposite side of the heart and cannot be fixed with the heart cath because they couldn't get to it. After the loudmouths left several of us had prayer with her and had a really good visit. She was a lot calmer and smiling when we left.
Patty got her blood work done this morning and moved her heart dr visit up to Mon morning. I'll call my Mom later tonight. POWDERMAN.

STEELBANGER. A link about Jadyn is in my sig at the bottom of my posts. We are going to skip Church in the morning and go to the hospitol in Lou to take communion with Pattys Mom and spend the day with her. All the prayers are much appreciated. POWDERMAN.

WE spent Easter Sunday with Pattys Mom in the hospitol in Lou. Her kidneys are not good, legs and feet swelled badly, too much fluid in her and a serious heart blockage. Another surgeon came in and asked about her open heart sched, we told him she said no, he said, without it you will die. What a jerk, I could see another new mercedes in his eyes. Her heart dr said he would not advise it either. We aked Pattys heart dr about it as well as our family dr and they both said that open heart for a woman of  89 and all she has wrong with her is not even an option, she would most likely die from it. Doris was released to a rehab yesterday and I belive they can help her.
Saw Pattys heart dr Mon and he set up another appt with our family dr for Friday to give her some specific instructions and change her chol meds.
My Mom will take another chemo today. So far she hasn't been too terribly sick. Her dr said that if it works it might buy her a bit more time and that if it looks like it is not working he would tell her. Jadyn had a good day Easter but still bleeding. POWDERMAN.

Mom had to be at the hosp at 6 am this morning to have a port put in, bloodwork, then another chemo treatment. She sounds good and was able to play piano at Church last Sun.
My mil went to a rehab last Tues and they have been doing some good work there, she uses a walker but is able to walk some and is in good spirits. Hopefully be out soon.
Pattys heart dr changed her meds again, dbled her lisinopril, now she has a dry hacking cough. Our fam dr said the increase was causing the cough and we are trying ANOTHER new bp med, so far so good.
ME?? About a week ago Patty and I walked back to the pond and we looked for a tiny bird nest we saw last winter in a bush on the dam. It was gone, I saw it at the bottom of the dam, I started after it and boom, I was dwn. Rt knne swelled and sore foot, left ft and ankle swelled and sore but I can still walk. Turned blue on the outside of the ankle and ft. Boy I'll be glad when this heals. No nitros for a couple of mo now.
Jadyn is still bleeding, she'll be 6 this fall. POWDERMAN.

Pman, been keeping everyone in my thoughts.  Will add another layer to carpet in prayer area so I can go a bit longer and pray harder for continued health and strength.
