A friend of mine wanted signal cannon to strap on the rail of his house boat. Knowing him well enough I would not like to see a fine cannon go to the bottom of the sea. Here is what I came up with using stuff laying around the work bench. I started with a piece of left over .45 caliber black powder rifle barrel and put in a breach and nipple drum. Then “acquiring” a small table leg (no one was using that table any way) that was near the shape of a cannon I further turned it and bored it to accept the barrel added a dowel rod and ball for a handle. Made a swivel bracket and there you have a cheap signal cannon. If for some reason it does goes overboard it floats (not in the design just happened that way). Now I am just thinking up a good story for explain what happen to the table.

Darn table pirates! Stealing table legs to replace their peg legs. Keep an eye out for them.
Ingenious just curious what retains the barrel, is it a press fit or is it strapped by some means.

The barrel is fastened in place with a press fit, JB weld and the nipple drum threaded into the barrel. Trunnions are just JB weld in place. Kind of a mini sleeve lined barrel Zulu cannon just much uglier.
