Trying to find value and date of production of Rem. Model 141 D

Ser.# 68xxx
Cal. 35 Remington
Fancy burl wood with fine checkering
Mint condition, may be unfired

The 141 was made from 1936 to 1950.

You will not find a "book" value on a D or F grade. They are worth whatever someone will pay for them. Condition is EVERYTHING! Like new you might buy a new truck for what you could get. If a junker you might have a hard time giving it away.

Have it properly appraised by a KNOWLEDGEABLE appraiser not some local yocal gunsmith before you even think about letting it go.

Your rifle may have a 3 letter date code on the left hand side of the chamber just ahead of the receiver. If so go to this web site and put in the code.
I think you must have one of the last 141s made.

Production for 1948 ended at 64191. Production for 1949 ended at 72502.
So your rifle was made in 1949. Production ceased at 76881 in 1950. No further production. Source was the data published in the October 1986 American Rifleman page 31. The data was provided by Jack Heath of Remington.
