Locating .348 brass
« on: December 10, 2003, 05:28:25 AM »
Can any of my Canadian brothers out there assist me in locating a source for .348 Winchester brass?  I have set up for handloading this calibre, and this component is proving to be the most difficult to locate on this side of the border.

Wholesale Sports says their out of stock.

BrushBuster,

Although I don't live north of the border I order my brass from Black Hills Shooters, Inc..  They have always treated me well.  You can go online to order from them at http://www.bhshooters.com.  Lawdog

Brush Buster: I've had 348 on order from Wholesale  Sports for about a year. No stock. I got my last supply from BCredneck in Chilliwack area. Fellows name is DaveFriesen I think. He has a website and his e-mail is dave@bcredneck.com.  I don't know if Winchester has done a run of this brass recently which may be why the dealers are having problems. I've got 200 cases on order and I advise you to get lots when you are able. Good luck.

Stocker, we've been going exactly the same route! I believe there's some brass coming my way from BCredneck soon. Also have 200 rounds on order with Wholesale Sports.

Your right, got to get in a supply! Keep in touch.

There's not a problem south of the border. This is pressure being placed on Canadian suppliers, importers and transport that have formerly handled shooting supplies. Those of us that don't live close to the border have a lot of hurdles to go through before getting our orders filled. And yes, we're between production runs from Winchester.

Get in touch with BCREDNECK, he seems confident in getting more in soon!

BB- Thanks for the heads up. So, do I order 200 from him and then Wholesale comes through at the same time? First thing you know I'll have enough on hand to be a supplier myself. Course I could always replace some that I bummed from my son's supply.

By the way did you ever get the bore diameter of your rifle nailed down? Your original measurement seemed awfully tight. I size my cast bullets to .349/.350 and the rifle seems to like them.

Any Van Tines in your neck of the woods?

That was interesting to see that this brass still shows up now and then. However, this seller will only ship within the U.S. and also, cartridge brass is not an item that can be shipped directly across the Canadian border. I'm up here in central B.C. and that's the problem.

Appreciate the thought though. I've now got an order incoming with a licensed importer so my problem should be over soon.

Thanks
