Boycott Bank OF America!
« on: April 22, 2012, 05:20:43 AM »
Please pass this along on any and all firearm friendy forums. Let's hit 'em where it hurts, the bottom line. I have one line of credit that will be getting cancelled tomorrow, and some scissors at the ready. I'm sure there are other banks that would love our business.

How about that.  I'm glad I bank locally at a family owned bank which, by the way, allows people to take out loans to buy guns.
I'm voting 3rd party in this election by writing in Jesus Christ for president.  Sadly even if this were an option most of you would still vote Republican because "It's a two party system."

I remember a class action suite against them reguarding them allowing charges over balance then hitting members with excessive charges.
We got hit  a couple years ago when I did not get to bank to make a deposit and the wife didnot know. It was almost 500$ on top of the actual drafts!! I complained strongly and they removed most of the charges. I guess that is a standard practice. I haven't used them at all since. The one charge card I do have with them is now in It's third year with zero use. Once paid off, later this year. It's gone!!!

Our local branches still have good and friendly service. I dropped their credit card a few years ago after they attempted several times to add some small, silly and unwarranted charges. Called them on it every time and they refunded the charges every time but the game became old quickly. When we took over my mother's affairs, the first time we tried to close my mother's BOA charge card (by phone and fax) they just added my wife's and my name to the account. My followup phone call was not very nice and they did close the account. When my wife died we did everything with BOA at the time and that was the pits as the local bank, the charge card division, the investment's division, etc. all required their own death certificate.

The ironic part in all of this, is that my VISA card is a Bass Pro Rewards card which I have had for several years. It has been used monthly and paid off monthly to gain rewards points. Bass Pro has some 'splaining to do on this as well. My monthly payment went out today, and once credited, it's goodbye! I have a boat-load of rewards credits at Bass Pro too.

Busta - Use up the reward points, pay off the card and then tell them to kiss off.

I stopped shopping at Bass Pro when they refused to sell me a BP rifle stating that I couldn't own one because, I lived in NYC, based on my zip code.  I even took the time to send them a letter explaining where I lived.  They felt they knew better,  I'm actually 65 miles outside of NYC.

Here is the response I got from Bass Pro, and the Banks response through them. I was unsuccessful in getting any type of satisfactory answer from the bank, and when I asked the credit card branch for a number to the bank management, there response was they don't have that information. Yeah RIGHT! Looks like a CYA blanket statement from the bank to me, you will have to decide for yourself.

Dear Xxxxxx,

Thank you for shopping with Bass Pro Shops. We appreciate your business. We checked with our source at Bank of America and they assured us that they have no policies or issues with gun manufacturers or retailers and they work numerous companies in this space. Below is Bank of America’s response to the allegations:

“We want to let you know that we hear your comments and questions regarding one of our customers. While we cannot discuss the details of any individual client we work with, we can assure you the allegations being made here are completely false. Bank of America does not have a policy that prohibits us from banking clients in this industry. In fact, we have numerous, longstanding customers in the industry.

We are also extremely proud of our support of the US military and reject any assertion to the contrary. We count as clients many companies that provide for our nation’s defense. We employ thousands of veterans, Guardsmen, and Reservists, and plan to increase our hiring this year.”

Bass Pro Shops is a big supporter of our 2nd Amendment rights and are currently working with the NRA to open an NRA Museum in our Springfield, Mo store.

Please contact us again if you require further assistance.

Best Regards,
