I know what I am capable of shooting all of the cal. I own.  But what is the Max. effective range a 223 45gr winchester shot out of a Savage mod 110e.   .  I am talking about the no wind still as can be.  I do not reload.  I am grouping at 1/2 inch at 150yds.

Maybe 400yds on a perfect day if your really good with it.  350 is probably more of an average. I'm just going from prairie dog experience.  KN

That depends on how you define effective range.  On a still day my HR bull barrel handi in .223 will keep  45 grain Winchester USA Varmint Pack ammo on a 12" Gong 3-5 times at 700 yards.  While not hunting accuracy, it is a lot of fun to plink at that range so inexpensivly and with so little  muzzel bast.
