Encore Pro Hunter slug barrel

Is the 12 gauge Encore Pro Hunter deer slug barrel a good shooter?
Does anyone shoot Lightfields put of it?  I have a supply of those already.
Will it fit my old Encore rifle?
I like the idea of it being 28 inches long and fluted.

You won't know if a slug shoots good in your gun until you run some through the barrel. Probabilities, yes, for sure, no. Go with the gun that you want and find a load then. You will be happy then and might learn something along the way. Somene will give you a fair price if you have an excess of slugs. ear

If you end up shooting the lightfields keep an eye on your spent shells for signs of pierced primers, which can score the face of your firing pin and eventually lead to needing a replacement firing pin. 
I spoke with Lightfield about this; they said that the Encores use a rifle-style firing pin which is narrower and sharper than a shotgun firing pin. 
I find it odd that my Encore didn't pierce any primers on the 8 other brands of sabots that I shot, but Mr. Murphy decided that my shooter prefers the Lightfields so I'm keeping a close eye on my firing pin.

Holy crap,, 28" barrel ? thats a lot of barrel to lug around, any idea why it's so long?
I have been shooting lightfield (20 and 12's) for 15 years,, their gonna reach volocity in a 20" barrell, anything more is dead weight.

A 28" barrel on an Encore doesn't seem very long at all...think of it the same as a double barrel shotgun...the barrel goes all the way back to a couple inches in front of the trigger.  And "dead weight" really doesn't apply to an Encore shotgun...I recently added almost a pound of lead to mine.  Helped with recoil and muzzle flip, and is still much, much lighter than my scoped 1100.
