starline 45acp brass aint workin good
« on: May 03, 2012, 04:10:37 PM »
i have been reloading 45 acp for 30 years and never had a real brass problem till i bought new starline brass and they seem to try to stick in my LEE powder/expander die on the way down after being charged.old ww and r&p brass has no problem. i like the starline brass and tried less flare but it didnt seem to matter.

starline brass may be a bit thicker and your lee die may be a bit tight. You may need to just open up your expander body a touch or try a differnt brand of die.

Call Lee Precision. You should have no problem with Starline brass. Likely your die is out of spec, or is damaged.  They will replace the die.

Starline brass has more of a tapor an it goes higher up inside the case on 45 acp than other brass. That is why it is sticking.
