Kind gestures for soldiers that work?

Whenever I see a soldier in uniform, I thank them for their service and tell them how important their work is. Occasionally, I'll pay their tab at a restaurant. What small kind gestures do soldiers appreciate the most?

When I was deployed I really appreciated the “any serviceman” letters and packages. Those let me know that someone back home cared and took the time to send something to us. When I got one I always took the time to write the sender back and thank them.
