Commercial 1911 (not A1) nickel finish w/ sambar stag grips. It was my granfathers and he carried it everywhere he went. He passed away when I was almost 15. Dad gave it to me on my 15th birthday and at 70 I still have and carry it. Have many others but this one is special!

A Series 80, Colt National Match Gold Cup purchased in the 80's for $500.
Later I picked up a Colt Combat Commander, which I had work (polished feed ramp, opened up ejection port) done on.
Sold both of them in the 90's, wish I still had them.

Great thread!  My first was a 1917 with all the rough machine marks, a little to big for my hand but it was made to be shot with mittens on! Mid 80s I carried an early Sig P220 w/european mag release, incredibly accurate, would feed anything and safe like you wouldnt believe (another story).  My first glock G30 was a 45 after bad mouthing them for years, turned out it was more accurate then I was and feed whatever I thru at it. Presently have a Firestar 45 w/starvel finish, heavy as a boat anchor but stays on target for double taps like no other.  45s are like motorcycles and old girlfriends, looking back have a hard time remembering why I got rid of them!

My first was a RIA plain Jane, so many reloads through it I lost count. Only thing I added was a main spring housing with a lanyard loop.

Sadly, I don't.  It was a Colt Combat Government that I bought as a police duty sidearm when I was a young deputy back in 1983 or 1984.  Later, when I was in the Army and had a wife and son, and lean times were upon us, I had to sell it.

I'm better off now, and as a cop I'm back carrying a 5" 1911 again.  I'm issued a Gen 3 GLOCK 22 but the 1911 just has so much more class.

My first 45 was a 1911A1 Colt that had little finish left on it with light rust and some pitting and the bore looked like a mouse took a leak down it 40 years before and no one cleaned it. This was around 1981. The fellow I got it from brought it back from WWII where as a Marine he took it off a dead Jap which had taken it off an American. He said that the finish was pretty much gone especially on one side that looked like it had blood on it and the blood had ate and pitted the finish. He carried it through out the war and brought it home. He said that his brother had shot it some just after he got home in 1946 and was supposed to have cleaned it. From the looks of the bore he did not and the priming was corrosive. The fellow said that he had put it away in a trunk in the attic of the house and had forgot about it. I traded the man two truck loads of fire wood for it. I cleaned it up with 000 steel wool and oil and got a friend that was in the National Guard to come up with me a new barrel and spring  ::) that he just happen to find ;) . It shot pretty good. I was poor as Job's turkey back then and if I did not catch, shoot or grow it my wife and I did not eat it. I had a shotgun which in NC you could use buck shot for deer. I found that by borrowing a friends 200 gr Lyman SWC bullet mold and using wheel weights from a local tire store that I got for free and using another friends loading tools I could brew up some cheap ammo. I used 7 grs Unique powder with that cast 200 gr SWC and for less than 2 cents I could kill a deer real easy. Out to around 50 yards I could drill one right through the shoulders and they did not go far if any place at all. Like a fool in the 1990's I was in a much better financial situation and got into bullseye shooting and sold this pistol and bought a AMT 1911 SS with target sights. I still have it and it will shoot the X ring out.

First one was an Ithaca 1911A1 issued to me in Korea some 50 odd years ago by the U.S. Army.  Next one I bought from CMP for 17.50 and was a Reminton as I recall.  Since than have owned a couple dozen or so.

Springfield mil-spec 1911 back on the late 80's..

Still have it, still love it...but it got lonely pretty quick and it now has about 4 other 1911 brothers to keep him company! ;)

My first 1911 was an old, worn 1911 issued to me by the Navy in 1970, which eventually blew up in my hand.   Slide & barrel ended up @ 20 ft. downrange.  Bought 1911 Colt Commander, steel frame, nickel finish, 1972, sold it a year later.   My current .45 ACP is a Hi-Point .45 bought new for $150 last year.  I am very happy with it.  A large heavy pistol at 52 oz loaded, it is very accurate, as well as fits my XXL paws very nicely....digests my reloads happily.
