The Eagles are back/ look out yappy dogs
« on: May 17, 2012, 02:31:36 PM »
Been a big Bald Eagle hanging around the last two days.  Today a woman came up looking for her little Miniature Poodle.  She was crying saying she thought some big dog may have gotten it.  She had it out on a line in the front of the house.  When she came out all she found was a bloody collar that had been ripped apart, and some blood on the ground.  I told her about the Eagle, she would not believe it and left.  As she walked down the street, she met Crystal, my neighbor.  Crystal told her the same thing I told her, You never leave a small dog outside up here.  If Eagles don't get them Coyotes or Wolves will.  Even here in our subdivision.

I took Prince, my Miniature Pinscher, for a run this afternoon.  I rode my bike, while he ran.  I stopped and noticed the Eagle was circling above us.  I shortened the leash, and we kept moving after that.  When we got home the Eagle landed in a spruce tree in the front yard.  I brought Prince inside and went back out and sit in the swing.  The Eagle sat and watched me for a while, then flew away.

We used to have a similar problem with the owls down on the farm.
Little dogs & cats would turn up missing.
Caught one raiding the chicken pen once.  ::)

I'm on the eagles side.  I hate those noisy little imitation dogs.

We have owls here all the time.  Great Horned Owls, and Snowy Owls, are both large enough to pick up little dogs and cats.  But this time of year they are out on the Tundra where they have a wide verity of prey.  Eagles are big and have no fear.
