I have a barrel that I bought from them that is first rate!  A friend of mine ordered a complete upper that he's very happy with.  I figgure their kits are good too.  Hope that helps.

They have kind of a poor rep with the guys that build guns but ive got a stainless 16 in hbar weight 1 in 7 twist barrel that is hands down the most accurate ar barrel ive owned. Ive shot 1/2 inch 5 shot groups with the gun its on.

About 2 months ago I bought a 20" upper kit from Model 1. Had to buy a lower for it. I am very please with it. It all went together very smoothly, tight in all the right places. Its just as accurate as my Bushmaster & DPMS. The finish is nice and I would recommend buying one. As a matter of fact, my Son wants one from them , but in a 16" model.

2 or 3 years ago there was a group order on another site. A lot of credit card numbers got stolen. Model 1 didn't want to help very much, just denied that the numbers were stolen from them. Poor customer service and attitude ensued when the fellow coordinating the buy tried to get the matter resolved. The order was canceled and given to another company. I think a lot of bad press regarding model 1 quality stems directly from the poor CS and CC security issues that have occurred over time. I've never read a thread that said this piece of junk shoots 4" groups or stovepipes every shot when related to model 1 parts.
