Cast Bullet Load for 444Marlin
« on: February 03, 2004, 04:02:20 AM »
Anyone got a good load suggestion for:

444 Marlin, Marlin M-444P (18 inch Ported barrel)

240 grain Cast SWC W/Gas Check (sized .430)

I have used IMR 4198 in the past, but that was a long time ago and I don't have a record of my load data!

I'm looking for a load suitable for deer hunting!

Cast Loads for the 444

Chuck - get yourself into the Beartooth Bullets Website - those folks have conducted more research on the use of cast boolets in the 444 than anyone else - their work is incredible and I use their reloading data all the time.  They list their load data by bullet weight and you will see some very, very interesting results with their cast boolets, and from a Marlin just like yours.

Some of the other fellas shoot the Winchester Timber Carbine with those loads and the accuracy they get is phenomenal.  My winchesters love their reloads.

BTW, you will find a lot of 444 shooters either here or on the Lever Action forum.  HTH.  Mikey.

Thanks Mickey!
I went there and it is a little different navigating around the site!  Something I'll have to get familiar with!  A lot of good info there!
