Loads & Bullets for 375 Winchester Super 14
« on: January 30, 2004, 04:05:19 AM »
I bought a 375 Winchester super 14 for a contender. I am looking for info for working up a good hunting load. I will mainly hunt mule deer and bear and will need a load capable of 200+ yards.
Thanks for the help!

If you want 200+ yards, you bought the wrong caliber.  But for a load that is at a reasonable distance for that caliber, try Hornady 220 gr. FP's and IMR 4198 powder.

I had a Ruger #3 Carbine in 375 and it shot the WW factory 200 gr load better than anything I could load for it . Not a cheap option but you can try that or you can send it to JD Jones and have him make a 375 JDJ out of it and get pretty close to your 200 yard range in power.

Mark,

My thoughts were the same as Jim's concerning the JDJ option.

However, I would recommend shooting a 375 JDJ before have work done.  While I've not shot one myself, I understand the recoil will get your attention and may be more than you want to experience.

Certainly, talking with JD Jones and asking for his opinion about your situation would be worth the phone call.

Blessings!
