Alliant 4000-MR Powder for .308Win Bull Barrel?
« on: May 22, 2012, 12:08:53 PM »
Anyone ever played with this slow-ish magnum rifle powder in the .308Win bull barrel (can't remember if it's 22" or 24")?

Just curious to see what kind of results I could expect with careful handloading.  I have to admit, I have my eye on the 93 grain .308-dia pills that barnes/speer puts out, typically for .30 Carbine pistols.

Wonder if I could top 3700 FPS....

Well, sure.  If you plan on going by the book!

(Disclaimer: I don't recommend doing anything the powder manufacturers tell you not to.  Just trying to learn!)

If you're new to reloading, you need to go by the book, going off book is a good way to break things, body parts, guns, ect....  :-\
