Like the saying goes, it's hard to fix stupid. Why would anyone think that it was a smart move to spend money that obviously wasn't yours.

When my mother died the usual monthly deposits from social security & he pension were deposited the first of the month after her death, just like usual. But I knew they would want them back so I just left them in her bank account. Sure enough when the dust settled afteri had notified everyone of her death, the money disappeared from her account.
Either your honest or your not. I knew she wasn't entitled to that money. Even though my name was on the account & I paid her bill for her the money was not ours..

pastorp, I did basically the same thing. My mother's checks where sent in the mail.(no direct deposit back then) Even though she was alive when the check came in the mail, she wasn't well enough to sign,(she was on morphine for the last 2 weeks of her life). So just sent it back, and called to stop the checks. Doing the right thing means looking at yourself in the morning mirror and not feeling bad.(other than that damn arthuritis :P )gypsyman
