Old Music
« on: May 22, 2012, 03:23:12 PM »
I found a site that plays the top 100 songs by year so started listening with 1955.   ;D   I'm up to 1960 now!  It sure is grand!  Just listened to Brenda Lee's rendition of "Dum Dum."

Man!  I can remember dancin' to this stuff, black leather jackets, a "Hollywood" (Flattop with long sides swept back into a DA)...  ::)

A much simpler time but I hated it!  High School that is....  :-\   My life didn't really start until I enlisted in the Marine Corps in '62.

Music is still cool though!   ;)

ATLAW. I too prefer the older music. I posted a link with the Ventures last week, I really enjoy their music. You will notice that I said OLDER??, and not OLD. POWDERMAN.  ;D ;D

I like that site and have it bookmarked.

No one better than the Ventures. I have a big stack of their LPs still. I also have most of their stuff on my mp3 player.

I absolutely hate music of that era. Sounds horrible. The only good thing about it is that it was so bad that people got fed up with it and it caused the rock and roll revolution and a resurgence of blues, and an innovative period for jazz. And it gave really good musicians like Frank Sinatra another chance at making another set of fine and innovative music.  I can only assume that people were so hard up for entertainment that they would accept anything.

Very easy to get side tracked on these links. When I got to Linda Ronstadt singing "Ooh Baby Baby" memories came flooding back and I could almost smell my late wife's perfume when we danced to this and many other tunes from the "old days". I'm filled with emotion right now but want to thank you all for starting and contributing to this thread.

If we're talking about the Playa Cofi Jukebox website, they also have Country Western on there, so why waste your ears on that other stuff?

I feel exactly the opposite. If C&W were the only thing to listen to I would chunk my radio in the trash. I don't have a problem with anyone that listens to it but I won't. Can't stand it.  :P

My ears have been wasted for years, but not from music but rather from the likes of H4831, Bullseye, 2400, BL-C2, etc.
