BLR Magazines
« on: May 26, 2012, 01:31:15 PM »
I have a Pre '81 308 that ,of course, does not accept the later 81 up mags, primarily because of width, magazine and receiver, I was wondering if anyone had successfully adapted any other mags, commercial or military to fit the Pre '81 receiver?, not only because of the scarcity and price of OE mags, but would like to gain a couple rounds

yosemite,

I have been a fan of Browning blr rifles since I bought the first one I saw for sale in 1971. They are fine hunting guns. I have searched for a solution to the higher capacity delema for years, without sucess I might add. Gunsmiths tell me they could be fabricated but no one would pay the price. A M14 mag looks close but I've been unable to find anyone willing to take the job of altering one to fit. I even considered joining 2 factory mags together but lack the metal working skills necessary to do so.
So my solution has ben to just carry several spare mags when hunting. Fortunally I had the foresight to buy enough spare mags before the current insaine prices became prevelonet. No mine are not for sale. As a side note, Even though the blr was first offered in 243 & 308 those mags will work with any of the current 308 based cartridges.  ;)
